Chocolate panna cotta

Panna cotta de chocolate

Panna cotta is a dessert of Italian origin and is made from cream, milk, sugar and gelatin.

Its appearance is very similar to a flan but its flavor and texture are somewhat different, it does not contain eggs or any caramel base and due to the amount of cream it contains, its flavor is much more dairy.

Some type of essence such as caramel, vanilla or orange liqueur can be added to the base of the recipe.

It can be prepared in flan molds or in individual cups and decorated with cream or some acidic fruit such as raspberries or any red fruit.

Panna cotta uses very few ingredients which we usually have in our pantry or in the refrigerator, it is prepared in a very short time and you do not need an oven, just a few minutes of cooking on the stove and it finishes setting in the refrigerator.

Ingredients:
  • 175 gr of chocolate for coverage
  • 400 ml whipping cream
  • 100ml milk
  • 60 g of sugar

  1. We start by hydrating the gelatin in plenty of cold water, place the gelatin sheets in a large bowl and let them soak for 10 minutes. Drain very well.
  2. In the 16 cm Optima pot we pour the milk, cream and sugar, mix well and let it come to a boil. Meanwhile, you can grease the molds a little with oil if you are going to present the panna cotta in the form of a flan.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and add the well-drained gelatin, mix well and add the dessert spoon of cocoa powder and mix again.
  4. Chop the chocolate with a knife and add it to the pot so that it melts with the heat, mix until it is all melted and pass the mixture through a strainer to eliminate any lumps.
  5. Pour the mixture into a jug to fill the molds or glasses that we have prepared.
  6. Let them cool to room temperature, then cover and store in the refrigerator until they are well set.
  7. When serving the panna cotta, if it is in the form of a flan, it will be easier to unmold it if we submerge the base of the molds in a little hot water and with a knife we carefully remove it from the walls.
