Whiskey cheeks

Carrilleras al whisky

These pork cheeks become a sweet, juicy and tasty bite.

To cook the cheeks:

8-10 pork cheeks -2 per person-

A little flour for the cheeks

1 chopped onion

1/2 green pepper cut into pieces

2 cloves of garlic

2 carrots peeled and sliced

60 ml whiskey or to taste

Broth to cover the meat

Pepper and salt to taste

Steps to follow:

  1. Pour a little oil into the bottom of the slow cooker and heat it. Season the cheeks with salt and pepper and dredge in a little flour, shaking off the excess.
  2. When the oil is hot, seal the cheeks on both sides and remove to a plate and set aside .
  3. In the same oil from the pot, sauté the onion, green pepper, crushed garlic and carrot pieces until the vegetables are poached , soft and golden.
  4. Once ready , add the whiskey, let the alcohol evaporate. Add the reserved meat , pour broth without completely covering the meat, and close the pot. Cook for 30 minutes in the 2nd ring position .
  5. While it is cooking in the slow cooker, prepare the garnish to taste. Fried potatoes, roasted vegetables or rice.
